Jeju-born Go Doo-shim Portrays Haenyeo in Film 'The Shining Moment'
Working with Ji Hyun-woo: A Role That Experienced Jeju's Painful History Fully
Actors Go Doo-shim and Ji Hyun-woo collaborate in the film The Shining Moment. According to the production company Myung Films on the 4th, this film is a drama depicting the events that unfold as documentary producer Kyung-hoon covers Jin-ok, the top haenyeo (female diver) in Jeju. The two actors play Jin-ok and Kyung-hoon, respectively. Myung Films stated, “Jin-ok is a character who has endured Jeju’s painful history with her whole body,” adding, “It is especially meaningful that Jeju-born actress Go Doo-shim takes on this role.” Go Doo-shim said, “I have always been proud of the spirit of the haenyeo that the people of Jeju possess,” and promised, “I will devote myself to making it beautiful.” The film is directed by So Joon-moon, who previously directed REC (2011), Longing Heart (2014), and Don’t Worry (2015). Production companies Whenever Studio and Whenever Do are also involved. Filming is scheduled to be completed by June.
