'Hangout with Yoo' Yoo Jae-suk Delivers Homemade Dried Squid and Kongjaban... Swings "It's So Delicious" (Summary)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] On the afternoon of the 2nd, MBC's 'How Do You Play?' aired a scene where Yoo Jae-suk transformed into his alter ego Lasek, made side dishes, and delivered them to Professor Kim Kwang-min and rapper Swings.
That day, Yoo Jae-suk complained to PD Kim Tae-ho for not informing him in advance that it was a live broadcast. However, upon learning that the number of visitors had exceeded ten thousand, he quickly changed his stance and went live, bringing laughter to viewers.
PD Kim Tae-ho said he needed to prepare side dishes to share with acquaintances, and Yoo Jae-suk showed enthusiasm, calling himself "someone who is well-versed in communication." He also said, "In the last broadcast, I unintentionally opened a chapter of blatant PPL (product placement). So I thought PPL offers would flood in, but unfortunately, there are none today."
Then PD Kim Tae-ho said, "We might do PPL first and discuss it later," to which Yoo Jae-suk retorted, "Are you a gangster? Do you have to go that far?" making viewers burst into laughter.
However, his initial grumbling was brief, and Yoo Jae-suk said, "I want to get the Gold Button," before starting to make the side dishes in earnest. Yoo Jae-suk attempted to make Kongjaban (soy-braised black beans), Jjimi-chae (seasoned dried shredded squid), and Jangjorim (soy-braised beef). Throughout the cooking, he checked users' comments for recipe help. When making Jjimi-chae, the seasoning sauce was too watery, prompting comments like "It looks like tteokbokki" and "My mom doesn't do it like that."
After finishing the Jjimi-chae, which received feedback that "there's so much sauce it could be put inside napa cabbage," Yoo Jae-suk started making Kongjaban. He discarded the water used to soak the beans, and upon seeing a comment saying, "Don't throw that away; just season and simmer it as is," he replied, "You should have told me earlier," which led to a flood of comments from users.
Yoo Jae-suk gave up on making Jangjorim and took the two completed side dishes to pianist Professor Kim Kwang-min. After tasting the soy-braised beans, Professor Kim said, "I don't like sweet things," and added, "This is totally my style." Regarding the Jjimi-chae, he commented, "It's not salty and tastes good," pleasing Yoo Jae-suk.
After delivering the side dishes, Yoo Jae-suk spent time at Professor Kim Kwang-min's house, looking around his pop albums and old furniture. To appraise the old items, he connected with writer Bae Soon-tak and appraisal commissioner Kim Kyung-soo to get their opinions. Then Yoo Jae-suk cooked pork kimchi stew himself and served a meal with the side dishes he brought to Professor Kim.
The second side dish delivery was to rapper Swings' house. Arriving without knowing the exact location, Yoo Jae-suk heard a voice asking, "Who are you to bring me side dishes?" and responded, "Swings, dude, Swings, dude," showing familiarity. Swings said that at 2 a.m., his first meal was "because I really hate eating out, I took out cup rice, spicy tuna, and kimchi to eat," to which Yoo Jae-suk expressed sympathy, saying, "You eat your first meal at 2 a.m.?"
After chatting for a while, Swings tasted Yoo Jae-suk's Jjimi-chae and exclaimed, "It's so delicious." Yoo Jae-suk cooked army stew for Swings, and they ate together.
