[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 2nd, the United Future Party stated regarding the wildfire that occurred in Goseong, Gangwon Province causing damage, "We will do our best to thoroughly investigate the causes of the repeated fire accidents and prepare measures to prevent recurrence."
Kim Seong-won, spokesperson for the United Future Party, released a statement on the day, saying, "We offer our sincere condolences to all those affected by the wildfire that occurred again while the wounds from last year's Goseong wildfire have not yet healed."
The Goseong wildfire that broke out the previous day spread rapidly due to strong winds, resulting in the loss of 85 hectares of forest and damage to six houses. Overnight, about 2,400 residents and soldiers were evacuated.
Spokesperson Kim said, "We also thank the firefighters, public officials, and military personnel involved in the firefighting operations for their hard work," adding, "Fortunately, there have been no casualties, and the major flames have been contained. However, since a dry weather warning is in effect, vigilance must not be relaxed until the fire is completely extinguished."
