Minister Jinyoung of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Issues Urgent Directive for "Full Effort to Extinguish Wildfire in Goseong, Gangwon"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Minister of the Interior and Safety Jin Young has instructed both the forestry and firefighting authorities to make every effort to extinguish the wildfire that occurred in Goseong, Gangwon Province.
Minister Jin requested on the 1st, regarding the wildfire that broke out around 8:30 PM in Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, spreading rapidly due to strong winds, "Since the wildfire is spreading quickly, please mobilize all available resources such as forestry and firefighting to combat the fire, and take preemptive measures such as evacuating residents in areas at risk of the fire spreading."
Minister Jin also urged, "Please pay special attention to the safety of firefighting personnel during nighttime firefighting operations."
The fire that started around 8:04 PM in a house in Dowon-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, has spread to nearby hills due to strong winds and is still ongoing. A total of 420 residents from 271 households in Hakya 1-ri, Hakya 2-ri, Dowon 1-ri, and Dowon 2-ri have evacuated to places such as the gymnasium of Cheonjin Elementary School.
