Prime Minister Jeong Urges "No Casualties and Best Efforts in Wildfire Suppression" in Goseong Wildfire
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun on the 1st instructed related ministries to ensure swift fire suppression and to take all possible measures to prevent casualties in relation to the wildfire in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do.
The Prime Minister's Office stated that Prime Minister Chung ordered, "The head of the Korea Forest Service and the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency should cooperate with local governments, police, and other related organizations, and mobilize firefighting personnel and equipment to the fullest extent to do their best for the prompt suppression of the wildfire."
Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "Since the wildfire is rapidly spreading due to strong winds, take thorough measures to evacuate residents to prevent any casualties," and added, "Prepare thoroughly in advance, including deploying forest helicopters, so that early suppression measures can be taken at sunrise."
He also said, "Ensure the safety of forest firefighting and firefighting personnel engaged in nighttime suppression activities."
