Construction of Carbon Material Recycling Research Facility in Gyeongju
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] A research facility for recycling carbon materials and components will be established in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
On the 1st, Kim Seok-ki, a member of the Future United Party, and Gyeongju City announced that the 'Carbon Materials and Components Recycling Infrastructure Project' submitted by Gyeongju City was selected in the 2021 Regional Hub Smart Specialization Infrastructure Project announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
From next year until 2023, Gyeongju City will invest 17.8 billion KRW to build a corporate support facility linked to the automobile parts industry in the Gu-eo 2 Industrial Complex, Oedong-eup.
The city will establish a Carbon Materials Recycling Center to research and commercialize recycling methods for carbon composites, which are future eco-friendly automotive materials. They will develop technology, equip research equipment and facilities, and cultivate specialized personnel.
Last year, Gyeongju City was also selected for the 'Advanced Center for Vehicle Advanced Material Molding and Processing Technology Construction Project' through a Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy competition.
Joo Nak-young, mayor of Gyeongju City, said, "We will actively support local companies to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries and strive to lead to job creation."
