Among them, 8 cases were imported from overseas, and 1 case was locally transmitted.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 1st, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 10,774. Of the 9 new confirmed cases, 8 were imported cases, with 4 detected during airport quarantine. The remaining 4 cases were confirmed positive while in self-quarantine after returning to the local community: 1 each in Seoul and Incheon, and 2 in Gyeonggi Province. All 4 imported cases confirmed in the local community were asymptomatic infections.
Currently, all entrants coming into South Korea from overseas are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. Symptomatic individuals undergo diagnostic testing at the airport, and entrants from the US, Europe, and other regions must undergo diagnostic testing within 3 days of arrival at their place of residence, even if asymptomatic. According to health authorities, over 70% of imported cases tested positive within 3 days after entry.
By country of stay, the imported cases were 3 from the Americas, 1 from Europe, 2 from India, and 2 from Japan.
Domestically, 1 case was reported in Yecheon, Gyeongbuk Province. The confirmed patient in Yecheon is a family member of a previously confirmed case and tested positive during a diagnostic test conducted to lift self-quarantine for contacts.
No new confirmed cases were reported in Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Sejong, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju.
From the 17th of last month to midnight on this day, a total of 139 confirmed cases were reported over the past two weeks. Imported cases accounted for 89, making up 64% of the total.
As of midnight on this day, the cumulative number of deaths among confirmed COVID-19 cases was 248. One additional death occurred in Gyeonggi Province at Myeongji Hospital, where a confirmed patient was receiving inpatient treatment. The domestic average fatality rate is 2.3%, with age-specific fatality rates of 2.60% for those in their 60s, 10.58% for those in their 70s, and 24.28% for those aged 80 and above.
The number of confirmed patients who have recovered and been released from isolation increased by 13, totaling 9,072. The domestic recovery rate is 84.2%. Currently, 1,454 confirmed patients are undergoing treatment while in isolation.

As of midnight on this day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases by region is as follows: Daegu 6,852, Gyeongbuk 1,366, Gyeonggi 678, and Seoul 634. To date, 623,069 people have undergone COVID-19 diagnostic testing, of whom 603,610 have tested negative.
