Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Implements '5-Step Training Strategy' for Remote Classes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 28th that the five-step training strategy to strengthen teacher capabilities was effective in successfully conducting the first-ever online school opening.
The Office of Education conducted remote class capability enhancement training in five stages for elementary, middle, and high school teachers in the province starting last month.
The first stage involved identifying preferences for remote class platforms and was conducted in early last month. The survey results showed that teachers in the province mostly used Google Classroom as their remote class platform, with some also using Microsoft (hereafter MS) Teams.
The second stage, the formation and operation of the Remote Class Support Team, has been underway since the 9th of last month. The support team consists of 44 members (two per elementary and secondary education office in each of the 22 cities and counties) and is responsible for counseling and supporting remote classes in the region. Training on Google Classroom, MS Teams, and other platforms through the support team was conducted at the Jeonnam Education Research and Information Institute.
The third stage involved technical support for remote classes by providing school accounts for Google Classroom and MS Teams. Since the 12th of last month, technical support has enabled the use of Google Classroom and MS Teams easily through school accounts without complicated personal authentication procedures.
The fourth stage was the highlight of this training, consisting of live and rebroadcast training sessions on Google Classroom and MS Teams for elementary and secondary schools. A total of three live broadcast training sessions were held from the 16th of last month to the 3rd of this month, with about 33,000 teachers participating, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.
The live and rebroadcast training on Google Classroom and MS Teams covered platform feature introductions, class utilization, and learning assessment over three weeks.
The final fifth stage was training on remote class platforms promoted as a policy by the Ministry of Education, such as e-Hakseupter for elementary and middle schools and EBS Online Class for high schools. This training was conducted from the 6th to the 24th, with about 5,000 teachers participating.
