Black Yak Launches 2-Person Tent for Island Travel Backpackers
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Global outdoor brand Black Yak (Chairman Kang Tae-sun) has launched the Alpine Dome 2P, a 2-person tent developed in collaboration with Helinox for backpackers traveling to islands.
Island travel is a continuous journey of unpredictable terrain, from flatlands to coastal rocks and steep slopes leading to mountain summits, requiring long walks with heavy luggage. In response, Black Yak collaborated with Helinox, which has established a strong presence in the global market by offering outdoor furniture such as Chair One and Table One, combining the technology and sensibility of both brands to introduce a new tent product.
Helinox is known for collaborating with partners across various fields beyond genres to present unique products. Notably, it has released collaborative products with the American street fashion brand Supreme, which only partners with brands that embody originality. Last year, Helinox also gained attention as the official sponsor of the "Cinema Paradiso Louvre" event held at the Louvre Museum.
The Alpine Dome 2P is a product specialized for the "Island & Mountain" program conducted by Black Yak Alpine Club, the largest hiking activity platform in Korea.
Despite being a 2-person tent, it weighs only 2.46kg, significantly reducing the load for island travel. The flysheet uses 20D fabric with silicone coating, and the poles are manufactured by DAC, the world's leading tent pole manufacturer, making it lightweight while effectively blocking strong island winds and maintaining the tent's structure without tilting.
Additionally, it features a safe and comfortable vestibule space and thoughtful mechanisms for quick and easy tent setup. The outside of the flysheet is equipped with a mud skirt to protect the interior from external weather and contamination. The latest pole connection systems, such as the "Pole Hub" and "Jake Foot Mini," are applied to enable solo setup within 5 minutes even in harsh island weather.
