Installation of Unique Street Trash Bins at Wirye New Town Transit Mall Plaza in Songpa-gu
On the 27th, four unique street trash bins and 22 standard street trash bins will be installed at Wirye New Town Transit Mall Plaza and the planned tram route section.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will install four unique street trash bins and 22 regular street trash bins on the 27th at Wirye New Town Transit Mall Plaza and the planned tram road section.
Songpa-gu is installing street trash bins to create a pleasant street environment and prevent illegal dumping along the streets.
In particular, the street trash bins installed in Wirye New Town this time include pictures and phrases to raise awareness about environmental pollution and ecosystem destruction caused by illegal dumping of trash.
Along with images showing the stomachs of sea turtles and dolphins that have ingested trash, the phrase "One-time use of disposable products causes the loss of nature's life" is included.
The exterior is tumbler-shaped (beverage cup shape). The size of the opening is designed to fit large beverage cups so that only recyclable trash can be deposited. The trash bin material is durable galvanized steel. It is powder-coated to prevent discoloration even after long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays.
Another characteristic of the street trash bins being installed this time is "active administration."
Currently, the Wirye New Town Transit Mall Plaza and the planned tram road section are areas frequently used by local residents. However, there have been many cases of indiscriminate trash dumping.
Accordingly, although this area is managed by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Songpa-gu actively and promptly promoted the installation of unique and regular street trash bins to resolve the inconvenience of local residents.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "The pictures and phrases on the unique street trash bins in Wirye New Town will make people think about the environment once more when throwing away trash," and added, "We plan to monitor local residents' reactions and expand the installation of customized street trash bins in densely populated areas with high foot traffic."
