Emart Offers Discounts on 'Minions' Themed Products Including Yellow Fruits
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Following 'Pengsoo,' the popular character 'Minions' has teamed up with Emart.
Emart announced on the 27th that it will decorate its stores in yellow, the representative color of the Minions, throughout May and offer discounts on a total of about 30 Minions-themed products.
Emart will discount yellow fruits such as chamoe (Korean melon), bananas, and pineapples, which are representative products in collaboration with Minions, for eight days from April 29 to May 6. The stores will be redecorated with a Minions theme using posters and props featuring the Minions characters.
The seasonal 'Seongju Chamoe' will be sold at up to 50% off compared to the usual price, and 'Banavalley Bananas' containing Minions stickers can be purchased at a 20% discount when paying with event cards.
Seasoned seaweed, processed foods, tableware, LEGO, and other items packaged with Minions designs will also be discounted for 15 days from April 29 to May 13.
Additionally, an event is prepared where customers who purchase over 100,000 KRW using Samsung or KB Kookmin cards will receive a 'Minions Eco Bag.' The eco bags are limited to 150,000 units and will be randomly given among four types featuring the Minions main characters: Stuart, Kevin, Bob, and Otto.
Emart expects to attract young customers and boost sales through this Minions collaboration. In fact, the eight Peacock products released in collaboration with Pengsoo last March drew significant attention immediately after launch, achieving total sales of 120,000 units over four weeks.
In particular, sales of Peacock snacks, including the extra-large snacks embodying the identity of Giant Pengsoo, increased by 173% compared to the same period last year.
