Seoul City "Colleague Sexual Assault Official 'Suspended'... Applying Zero Tolerance Policy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government has suspended Employee A, who belongs to the Mayor's Secretariat and committed sexual violence against a female colleague.
Kim Tae-gyun, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau, stated in an online briefing held at Seoul City Hall on the afternoon of the 24th, "We deeply regret the occurrence of a sexual violence incident involving a city employee and offer our sincere apologies."
Director Kim explained, "Today, upon receiving notification of the police investigation commencement, the employee was immediately suspended" and "We take this matter very seriously and will strictly handle it based on the police investigation results and a thorough internal investigation by the city, applying a zero-tolerance policy."
He also said, "Above all, during the social distancing period when public officials must lead by example as the main agents of quarantine, we deeply regret that such an incident occurred" and "We will also do our utmost to protect the victim."
