Gwangju Seo-gu to Renovate Aging Children's Parks
Promotion of the 'Daga-chi Playground Creation Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) is promoting the ‘Daga-chi Playground Creation Project’ to improve old and underutilized children's parks.
According to Seo-gu on the 24th, the ‘Daga-chi Playground Creation’ project is a resident-participation type project that selects the theme of the park through residents' participation and creates a space that all generations can relate to and use by revitalizing deteriorated children's parks.
A resident council composed of residents interested in the park participates in creating a valuable park by discussing together from planning, including selecting the direction and theme of the park, to construction, as well as various measures to activate the park after its creation.
Last year, Seo-gu achieved great success by redeveloping Pureum Children's Park, which had been neglected due to intoxicated individuals and others, through identifying problems and seeking solutions with residents' participation, transforming it into a park where children visit and residents can relax comfortably.
Based on this, this year, the plan is to expand and create the ‘Daga-chi Playground,’ which is enjoyed together by people with and without disabilities, from children to adults, and is made valuable by residents, at Punggeum Children's Park and Naebang Children's Park.
