Renault Samsung XM3 Popularity Surges Beyond COVID, Surpasses 10,000 Units Sold in Record Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Renault Samsung Motors' sports utility vehicle (SUV) XM3 has surpassed 10,000 cumulative deliveries in the shortest period among Renault Samsung vehicles.
Renault Samsung announced on the 24th that XM3 deliveries exceeded 10,000 units in just 49 business days. This is the shortest period in which a newly launched Renault Samsung vehicle has surpassed 10,000 cumulative deliveries.
XM3 delivered 5,581 units in its first official sales month last month, followed by 4,419 units in just 13 business days in April. The previous shortest record for surpassing 10,000 deliveries was held by the SM6, which reached 10,000 units in 61 business days.
A Renault Samsung official explained, "XM3 recorded 10,000 deliveries at a much faster pace in the highly competitive compact SUV market compared to the mid-size sedan market," adding, "It is driving Renault Samsung's sales performance and adding significance."
XM3 caused a sensation as soon as pre-orders began in February, achieving 5,500 pre-orders in just 12 days. Recently, cumulative contracts surpassed 20,000 units within one month of launch.
Despite the difficulties caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Renault Samsung is making efforts to turn the popularity of the XM3, which is performing well, into an opportunity for growth.
Reflecting the difficulty of visiting showrooms due to COVID-19, Renault Samsung strengthened its online non-face-to-face customer service. As a result, about 15% of all customers purchased the XM3 through online subscription.
Additionally, Renault Samsung is revitalizing its nationwide sales network by sending congratulatory messages and incentive rewards to dealerships that achieved 100 XM3 deliveries, and is conducting events to distribute XM3 souvenirs to employees.
