Creation of an 'Urban Forest' in Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A "urban forest" where citizens can rest has been created in Gwanggyo Lake Park, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Suwon City government announced on the 24th that it has created an urban forest in Jaemi-nanbat, a 5,553㎡ circular lawn plaza that is usually visited by many people and hosts various events and performances, to reduce fine dust and provide shaded resting areas for citizens.
There had been complaints that there was a lack of trees to provide shade in this area.
Accordingly, Suwon City selected Jaemi-nanbat as the site for the urban forest construction project and planted 23 large Zelkova trees with a diameter of up to 30 cm.
Additionally, 35 Chionanthus retusus trees were planted along the bicycle lane divider on the Shindae Lake walking trail to enhance the urban forest function.
