View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), which recently faced controversy over 'customer satisfaction manipulation,' has appointed Park Youngsook, Audit Director (53), as the Seoul Headquarters Chief to establish work discipline.
On the 23rd, KORAIL announced, "To establish work discipline and enhance job ethics, Audit Director Park has been appointed as the Seoul Headquarters Chief effective from the 24th."
Director Park is the first female Audit Director at KORAIL and has been performing audit duties since 2013. Upon taking office, she plans to identify the causes and issues of the 'customer satisfaction manipulation' incident and prepare solutions.
Kim Jinjoon, Gwangju Headquarters Chief (56), has been appointed as the new Audit Director. Based on his experience in personnel, finance, auditing, and his tenure as a regional headquarters chief, Director Kim plans to rebuild the organization's discipline from the basics.
Meanwhile, regarding the recent 'customer satisfaction manipulation' incident, KORAIL has suspended two related executives, including the Seoul Headquarters Chief, and excluded seven employees from the relevant duties.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's audit results, KORAIL employees manipulated the '2019 Customer Satisfaction Survey' conducted in January and February to receive higher performance bonuses.
Among the 12 regional headquarters nationwide, employees from eight regional headquarters concealed their KORAIL employee status to participate in the survey in order to receive higher internal management performance evaluations.
The manipulated surveys accounted for 222 cases (15.4%) out of a total of 1,438.
