On the 23rd (Korean time), the American ESPN reported, "It will be held under the name 'The Match: Champions for Charity,'" adding, "The exact time and place are still undecided, but it is highly likely to take place on the Memorial Day weekend in May." Memorial Day falls on the fourth Monday of May, which is the 25th this year. ESPN anticipates the rematch between the two players amid the COVID-19 pandemic to be held on May 24th.
The venue is "most likely to be in Florida," it added. However, other American media outlets such as NBC reported, "There is also a possibility it could be on May 15," while noting, "The date has not been finalized." They further predicted, "Woods will team up with Peyton Manning, and Mickelson will partner with Tom Brady (both from the United States)." Manning and Brady are NFL stars known for their excellent golf skills.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed a positive stance on hosting the event last week. This year, the tournament is co-hosted by AT&T WarnerMedia and the PGA Tour. It will be broadcast on either Turner Sports' TNT channel or one of WarnerMedia's channels via a pay-per-view system. Like the first match, there will be no gallery, and only the minimum essential personnel will be allowed at the venue to comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to COVID-19 relief funds. ESPN explained, "The PGA Tour still needs to approve this event," adding, "Procedures to verify several issues such as health and safety are underway." The two players previously competed in November 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the title 'The Match: Tiger vs Phil,' where Mickelson won after a close battle extending to the fourth playoff hole, taking home the entire prize money of $9 million (approximately 11 billion KRW).

This match was planned as a pay-per-view broadcast costing $19.99 (about 25,000 KRW), but due to technical issues, it was ultimately made available for free. The matches between the two players were planned to be held annually for three years starting last year, but last year's event was canceled, and this year marks the event's return after two years. With golf tournaments worldwide suspended due to COVID-19, the event featuring Woods and Mickelson is expected to be a great spectacle for golf fans.
