Since the suicide rate tends to increase from March to May compared to winter, intensive management is needed in the local community. Therefore, the center has posted suicide prevention banners in 11 locations across 9 towns and townships, and 2 high-risk suicide locations, and is actively promoting suicide prevention videos on local electronic billboards.
In addition, a suicide prevention logo projector was installed on the newly opened Chilsan Bridge last year, and through the pesticide safe storage box management project and the campaign to improve the sales behavior of charcoal briquettes, the center is improving the suicide risk environment and contributing to the spread of a culture that respects life.
Kim San, the mayor of Muan-gun, said, “To overcome COVID-19, although we keep physical distance through the ‘social distancing’ campaign, we must keep our hearts close and help those in life crises,” adding, “We will strive to reduce the suicide rate by protecting precious lives through focused management during the high-risk suicide period.”
