Gokseong County Council Inspects Cold Damage Sites in Orchards
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 21st, the Gokseong County Council in Jeonnam announced that they visited three orchard farms, including apple farms in Okwa-myeon, which suffered damage due to abnormal low temperatures, to console the distressed farmers and inspect the specific damage situation.
Recently, due to the influence of a warmer climate, the flowering period of fruit trees has advanced by 7 to 10 days compared to the average year. As a result, fruit crops that bloomed early could not withstand the sudden low-temperature phenomenon, causing damage such as petal withering and poor fertilization.
All members of the Gokseong County Council personally visited the damage sites, consoled the affected farmers, and urged the executive branch to prepare fundamental measures for the damaged farms and to provide on-site technical support, including guidance on post-management methods.
