Prosecutors Indict 10 for 'Self-Quarantine Violations' Without Detention... 2 Under Arrest and Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution has indicted 10 individuals without detention for violating quarantine measures imposed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 21st, as of 9 a.m. that day, the prosecution received 21 individuals from the police who violated COVID-19 self-quarantine and investigated them.
The prosecution indicted 10 of them without detention and is investigating one person in custody.
The prosecution plans to strictly respond by, in principle, referring all other violators to formal trials and seeking prison sentences in future trials.
A prosecution official stated, "We will continue to detain and investigate those who intentionally, repeatedly, and continuously refuse to comply with quarantine measures."
Earlier, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office detained a man in his 60s who violated quarantine measures multiple times after entering from the United States, including using external saunas and restaurants.
