According to the Gwangsan Fire Station in Gwangju on the 21st, around 9:44 a.m., approximately 15 tons of hydrochloric acid leaked at a facility in Jangdeok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The outdoor tank storing the hydrochloric acid tilted, causing the acid inside the tank to spill out.
The fire brigade, dispatched after receiving the report, used dry sand and absorbent pads to prevent further leakage.
Most of the leaked hydrochloric acid was collected by containment facilities installed for emergencies, preventing it from flowing outside, and there were no reported casualties.
