Reporter Kim Young-hee Donates 1,409 Books to the National Library of Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jong-gil] The National Library of Korea announced on the 21st that it received a donation of 1,409 books from the family of the late Kim Young-hee, a former reporter for JoongAng Ilbo who passed away last January. 89% of the donated materials are foreign books. They include philosophical works such as Richard Wilhelm's "Confucius and Confucianism" and historical books dealing with Japanese invasion and the Korean War. A library official stated, "Respecting the deceased's wish that the collection be usefully utilized by future scholars, we will promptly organize and provide the books." Reporter Kim Young-hee joined JoongAng Ilbo in 1965 and served as head of the foreign news department, Washington correspondent, editorial writer, editor-in-chief, and international affairs correspondent.
