Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, Completely Cancels 'Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 21st that it will completely cancel the '24th Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival' to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival is one of the representative spring flower festivals in Korea, attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually. Hwangmaesan Provincial Park, located on the border between Hapcheon-gun and Sancheong-gun, is considered one of the three great azalea mountains, and in spring, the 60-hectare azalea colony transforms into a pink flower garden.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the county is controlling visitor access and posting notices throughout the area to inform the public of the festival cancellation.
