On the 21st, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology announced that the smart RMS, an intellectual asset accumulated while managing major arterial roads, will be linked for use by local governments. RMS is a set of 12 maintenance management systems that have been operated since 1987 for systematic management of road pavements, slopes, bridges, tunnels, and more.
In Gangwon-do, the government’s road management system will be opened to systematically manage pavement risk factors such as potholes and cracks on local roads under its jurisdiction, and to enable systematic repair of aging bridges and tunnels. A cooperation plan (MOU) will also be signed to ensure smooth support.
In Gyeonggi-do, the smart RMS’s “Cheokcheok Solution Service” will be supported for use and linkage by the Gyeonggi-do Road Monitoring Team to enable immediate reporting of road inconveniences such as potholes and roadkill, with processing within 24 hours. The Cheokcheok Solution Service is a road inconvenience and hazard resolution service that allows convenient reporting of road usage inconveniences and hazard complaints via smartphone and transfers them to the relevant road management authorities.
