Singapore Reports 1,400 New COVID-19 Cases in One Day... Cumulative Total Exceeds 8,000
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] In Singapore, 1,400 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported in one day, pushing the total number of confirmed cases beyond 8,000.
According to The Straits Times and others on the 20th, the Singapore Ministry of Health announced that 1,426 people were newly confirmed as infected that day. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 8,014.
Among them, 16 are Singapore citizens and permanent residents. The majority are foreign workers living in foreign worker dormitories. The number of new cases in one day set a record high on that day.
Singapore has seen a rapid increase in daily confirmed cases over the past week. The numbers rose from 447 on the 15th, to 728 on the 16th, and 942 on the 18th.
