Gwangju City Western Wholesale Market, Rent Reduction for Market Public Property Lease
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Western Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market Management Office announced on the 20th that it will implement rent reduction measures for the shared property of the wholesale market to alleviate the burden on distribution workers due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This rent reduction is a follow-up measure to the reduction of usage fees and rents for city-owned shared properties, which was one of the "Second Measures to Protect the Local Economy from COVID-19" announced by Mayor Lee Yong-seop on the 19th of last month.
The rent reduction period applies for six months from February 1 to July 31 of this year. Previously, the usage rate was set at 50 per 1,000, but under this measure, the reduction rate is lowered to 10 per 1,000, resulting in an 80% rent reduction effect.
The reduction targets 289 places including Honam Cheonggwa, Dure Cheonggwa, and intermediate wholesalers using cold storage facilities, with a total reduction amount of approximately 80 million won.
Users of the Western Wholesale Market shared property can receive rent reductions next month by visiting the management office and submitting an application form.
Additionally, to prevent damage to intermediate wholesalers who fall below the minimum transaction volume due to decreased wholesale market transactions caused by reduced consumer spending, careful consideration will be given to mitigating administrative penalties.
