Gyeonggi Fire Department Holds Blood Donation Event
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a blood donation event to alleviate the blood shortage caused by COVID-19.
On the 20th, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced that it held an emergency blood donation event targeting employees of the headquarters and Suwon Nambu Fire Station in the parking lot in front of the fire headquarters building in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon.
The event was organized to help ensure a stable supply of blood amid worsening blood supply due to avoidance of group blood donations over concerns of COVID-19 infection.
In particular, to prevent COVID-19 infection, blood donation times were staggered by department to minimize contact among large numbers of people. Additionally, the blood donation bus was disinfected, and mask-wearing and hand sanitization were enforced.
Earlier, about 30 employees of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters Special Response Team held a blood donation event last month.

Lee Hyung-cheol, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, said, "By participating in the blood donation event during these difficult times due to COVID-19, we expect to create a positive social atmosphere toward blood donation and increase citizens' interest in donating blood. We will continue to work closely with the Korean Red Cross Gyeonggi Blood Center to promote blood donation activities."
