You Can Apply for Moving-in Notification and New Resident Registration Card Issuance Anywhere Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] From now on, it will be possible to apply for moving-in registration and new resident ID card issuance at all eup, myeon, and dong community service centers nationwide.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 20th that once the 21st National Assembly convenes, it will promptly amend the Resident Registration Act to allow moving-in registration at any nearby community service center regardless of jurisdiction.
Although moving-in registration has become possible online for the convenience of citizens, in-person moving-in registration is still only allowed at the community service center of the resident registration address under the Resident Registration Act. This has caused inconvenience in handling resident registration tasks for information-vulnerable groups who prefer visiting community centers over the internet, as well as for office workers.
The Ministry plans to prevent false moving-in registrations by linking the next-generation resident registration system with the National Spatial Information Portal to thoroughly verify whether the reported address is a habitable building at the time of moving-in registration.
Along with this, if the enforcement decree of the Resident Registration Act is amended in the second half of this year, it will become possible to apply for resident ID cards at all eup, myeon, and dong community service centers nationwide.
