Gangdong-gu Supports Food Waste Disposal Costs for Small Restaurants
Free Food Waste Collection for 6 Months at 4,970 Small Restaurants Under 200㎡ Worth Approximately 660 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will provide free food waste collection for about six months until September to support small restaurants suffering severe business difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19.
The target is approximately 4,970 general and casual restaurants with an area of less than 200㎡. Currently, restaurants purchase a business payment certificate and attach it to a dedicated collection container when disposing of food waste. From April 20 to September 30, this cost will be waived.
These restaurants can dispose of food waste without a payment certificate from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. (excluding Saturdays).
The district expects the total fee reduction amount from this free collection support to reach about 660 million KRW.
