‘4·19 Revolution’ 60th Anniversary Commemorative Medal First-Come, First-Served Pre-Order Sale
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Commemorative medals produced to mark the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution are being sold by reservation on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pungsan Hwadoyang Co., Ltd. announced on the 20th that, together with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, it will conduct reservation sales of the 'April 19 Revolution 60th Anniversary Commemorative Medal' from the 20th to the 29th through nationwide branches of financial institutions.
The commemorative medals are produced and sold in three types: ▲ Gold Medal I 31.1g (limited to 300 proof-grade pieces for collection) ▲ Gold Medal II 15.55g (limited to 300 proof-grade pieces for collection) ▲ Silver 31.1g (limited to 2,000 proof-grade pieces for collection).
Gold Medal I is inspired by the bas-relief installed at the April 19 Cemetery and expresses the "people’s will to continue democracy." The background includes the numbers "4.19" and "60," symbolizing the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution, and the lower part features a "voting mark" design, telling the story of the April 19 Revolution that began as a protest against rigged elections. Additionally, the top center is engraved with the values of the April 19 Revolution: "Democracy," "Freedom," and "Justice." The selling price is 3,850,000 KRW.
On Gold Medal II, the top features an image of flower petals scattering from branches, symbolizing the citizens and students who sacrificed their lives during the April 19 Revolution, which divided modern society. The lower part depicts the numbers "4.19" and "60," representing the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution, along with children following the voting mark toward democracy and the future, which blossomed from the sacrifices of the revolution. The top design is engraved with "Fallen Flowers, Bloomed Democracy." The selling price is 1,980,000 KRW.
The front of the silver medal applies the same design as Gold Medal I, and the common reverse side of the commemorative medals features the years "1960-2020," representing the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution, with a panoramic view of the April 19 Revolution Cemetery at the center and the fluttering Taegeukgi (Korean national flag) in the background sky, symbolizing the national significance of the April 19 Revolution. The selling price of the silver medal is set at 121,000 KRW.

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at nationwide branches of Industrial Bank of Korea, NongHyup Bank, Woori Bank, and the Post Office, as well as through the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, Hyundai Department Store online mall, and Pungsan Hwadoyang, the official sales agent.
