Gwangju City Conducts Road Maintenance on 7,495 Routes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 17th that it will carry out the 2020 spring road maintenance until the 15th of next month to provide a safe and clean road environment.
This road maintenance will be conducted in collaboration with Gwangju City, the Comprehensive Construction Headquarters, autonomous districts, and road management authorities such as the 2nd Ring Road, targeting 7,495 routes covering 1,721 km within the jurisdiction.
In particular, it will focus on repairing roads damaged by winter freezing and thawing, as well as various road facilities whose functions have deteriorated during the thawing season.
The main maintenance tasks include ▲repairing road pavement damage such as potholes and road depressions ▲maintenance of rockfall and landslide risk areas and mountain ridge side ditches ▲removal of sediment from drainage pipes, side ditches, and waterways ▲inspection to ensure the functionality of major facilities such as bridges and tunnels.
Additionally, in anticipation of summer heavy rain and strong winds due to recent climate anomalies, Gwangju City plans to strengthen road patrols and timely maintain road facilities, while also conducting environmental maintenance such as roadside weeding and cleaning to provide a pleasant road environment.
