Jeju Dongbu Police Station announced on the 17th that they are investigating whether Sergeant A (41) complied with firearm safety management regulations.
Sergeant A received a .38 caliber pistol from the armory at the Dongbu Station at 3:52 p.m. on the 15th to carry out the transportation duty of ballot boxes for the 21st National Assembly election, and then fired one blank cartridge.
According to the police investigation, Sergeant A stated that the bullet was discharged due to accidentally releasing the slide during firearm inspection.
No casualties occurred as the blank cartridge was fired during the incident.
