This Veterans Support Ordinance was promulgated after a revision process to ensure that national veterans who dedicated themselves to the country are respected and to strengthen the courtesy extended to their bereaved families.
Accordingly, the allowance, which was previously paid only to the veterans themselves, has been expanded to include the spouses of deceased veterans.
The spouse of a deceased veteran will receive a monthly allowance of 30,000 KRW going forward.
Jangheung-gun currently provides a monthly veterans honor allowance of 70,000 KRW and a monthly veterans family honor allowance of 30,000 KRW to about 380 veterans and about 250 national veterans and their bereaved families.
With the expansion of the payment scope through this ordinance revision, it is expected that about 150 additional people will benefit.
The bereaved families of veterans are limited to spouses, and to apply for the allowance, applicants must bring the veteran ID card and national veteran confirmation issued by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, as well as a family relation certificate, to the administrative welfare center of their local town or township.
