[4·15 General Election] Jeonnam Region Exit Poll Shows Democratic Party's 'Landslide Victory'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] In the 21st general election, the Democratic Party of Korea is predicted to sweep all 10 constituencies in Jeonnam, successfully reclaiming its stronghold.
According to the exit poll results of the 21st National Assembly election by the three terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) on the 15th, the Democratic Party was found to be winning in all 10 constituencies in Jeonnam. Notably, in the closely contested areas of Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye (Gap), Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, Gangjin, and Mokpo, the party was leading by a significant margin.
In the Mokpo constituency, predicted to be a very close race, Democratic Party candidate Kim Won-i was leading by a 10 percentage point margin over Park Ji-won of the Minsheng Party, drawing cheers. Justice Party candidate Yoon So-ha received only 11.2% of the votes.
In Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye Gap, Democratic Party candidate So Byeong-cheol led significantly with 58.1%, compared to independent candidate Noh Gwan-gyu’s 32.5%. In Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye Eul, Democratic Party candidate Seo Dong-yong also outpaced independent candidate Jeong In-hwa, who was seeking re-election with 24.5%.
In Yeosu Gap, which attracted attention due to a contest between prosecutors, Democratic Party candidate Joo Cheol-hyun received 64.1%, while independent candidate Lee Yong-ju got 32.1%. In Yeosu Eul, Democratic Party candidate Kim Hoe-jae was comfortably ahead with 72%, compared to independent candidate Kwon Se-do’s 21.1%.
In the Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, Gangjin constituency, Democratic Party candidate Kim Seung-nam was found to be winning decisively with 61.3%, compared to Minsheng Party candidate Hwang Ju-hong’s 36.5%.
In Naju-Hwasun, Democratic Party candidate Shin Jeong-hoon led with 76.8%, ahead of Minjung Party candidate Ahn Ju-yong’s 22.5%. In Haenam, Wando, Jindo, Democratic Party candidate Yoon Jae-gap also won with 72%, defeating Minsheng Party candidate Yoon Young-il, who was seeking re-election with 27.1%.
In Yeongam, Muan, Sinan, Democratic Party candidate Seo Sam-seok easily defeated competitor Minsheng Party candidate Lee Yoon-seok, receiving 79.5% to Lee’s 17.5%. In Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Democratic Party candidate Lee Gae-ho comfortably outpaced independent candidate Kim Seon-woo, who received only 11.8%, with 82.1% of the votes.
The three broadcasters selected polling stations by constituency based on the competitiveness of the races and conducted surveys at about 2,300 polling stations. For every five voters who had completed voting at a location more than 50 meters away from the polling station, one was asked to indicate on a questionnaire which candidate and party they voted for.

The joint exit poll for the April 15 general election by the three broadcasters was conducted by three survey organizations?Korea Research, Korea Research, and Ipsos Co., Ltd.?from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. nationwide at 2,321 polling stations, surveying approximately 510,000 people.
