Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party, said at the joint election strategy committee meeting of the Democratic Party and the Citizens Party held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 14th, "It is still difficult to gauge the outcome of the election," adding, "More than half of the constituencies in the metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Gangwon are still in close competition, and in Yeongnam, we are struggling to compete in more than 10 places, but we cannot guarantee victory until the ballot boxes are opened. Although Honam seems favorable at first glance, it is facing fierce pursuit in various places."
Regarding the proportional representation vote, Lee also expressed concern, saying, "The Citizens Party has not yet fully absorbed the support votes for the Moon Jae-in administration and the Democratic Party," and "However, because the votes supporting the Moon Jae-in administration are split, difficulties still remain." He added, "If the Democratic Party and the Citizens Party cooperate to form the first party in the National Assembly and a majority, it will be very difficult for the opposition to continue obstructing." He continued, "For the Democratic Party to become the first party and aim for a majority, the Citizens Party must surpass the Future Korea Party to become the number one in proportional votes. Please vote for candidate number 1 of the Democratic Party and number 5, the Together Citizens Party, in the third box of the proportional vote."
Lee In-young, floor leader of the Democratic Party, said, "Overconfidence is forbidden when viewed from the people's perspective, and arrogance is poison and a shortcut to ruin." At the joint election strategy committee meeting with the Together Citizens Party held at the National Assembly and during a radio interview on the same day, Lee said, "Our goal is to be the definite first party leading state affairs and to secure a stable majority for the ruling coalition, but the final decision rests with the people," adding, "We will act humbly and desperately until the end to achieve victory."
Regarding the election situation, he said, "Until the period when opinion polls can be publicly released, our party appeared slightly ahead," and "Since last weekend, as the Future United Party launched a full-scale offensive with a containment theory, the situation has become somewhat fluid, so we are watching closely."
Woo Hee-jong, co-representative of the Citizens Party, appealed to vote for the Together Citizens Party in the party vote, saying, "The Together Citizens Party is one family with the Democratic Party." He emphasized, "If the Future United Party is not judged in this general election, it will again obstruct the Moon Jae-in administration's efforts to overcome the COVID-19 and economic crises," and "The ruling party must become the definite first party. Even if it becomes the first party, if it is not a definite first party, the Future United Party will continue to shake President Moon and paralyze the National Assembly."
Lee Jong-gul, co-chairman of the Citizens Party's joint election strategy committee, drew a clear line again with other proportional parties such as the Open Democratic Party. He said, "The Citizens Party is by no means a party formed out of dissatisfaction with nominations or personal calculations," and "The Citizens Party candidate list is based on the support and sacrifice of the Democratic Party. To honor the Democratic Party's spirit of sacrifice, you must support the Citizens Party." He also appealed, "For those who intend to support the Justice Party and the People's Party, the Justice Party must receive a warning and start anew in the 21st general election. Voting for the Justice Party and the People's Party is not centrist but strengthens the far-right," and "Please choose the Citizens Party to give a warning."
