Gimhae City Provides Close Management for High-Risk Suicide Groups in Spring... Promotes Help Request Agencies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it will intensively promote help request institutions and closely manage high-risk groups for suicide to prevent the increase in suicide rates during the spring season.
It is known that suicide rates increase worldwide in spring due to seasonal factors such as increased sunlight, pollen, and fine dust, as well as insomnia, relative deprivation, and depression.
Accordingly, the city plans to send check-in text messages to high-risk groups, identify and provide follow-up management for them, and carry out projects to improve the sale of charcoal briquettes used for suicide and pesticide safety management to block access to suicide means.
In addition, posters and banners containing information about help request institutions that support mental health, student and youth counseling, low-income finance and legal services, employment, welfare, and livelihood will be posted at community welfare centers, welfare facilities, and light rail stations with high foot traffic.
