According to Hampyeong Office of Education on the 13th, among lower-grade elementary school students, those with insufficient Korean literacy will be identified, and special guidance will be provided through itinerant education by homeroom teachers, basic academic skills dedicated teachers from the Office of Education, and learning psychological counselors.
In addition, customized materials such as ‘Chanchan Hangeul’ will be actively utilized, and instruction will focus on activities centered on songs and play rather than simple reading and writing, enabling students to naturally acquire the Korean language.
Kim Wan, Superintendent of Hampyeong Office of Education, said, “Since elementary school freshmen are encountering formal education in Korean for the first time, it is necessary for specialized Korean literacy teachers to select students who have not yet acquired literacy and provide intensive support. This program is designed to supplement areas that might be neglected due to remote classes.”
