Mercedes-Benz Provides Relief Supplies to COVID-19 Vulnerable Groups and Medical Staff
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 13th that it will provide relief supplies to vulnerable children and adolescents, as well as frontline medical staff and volunteers who are struggling due to the prolonged spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Benz Contribution Committee) will deliver relief supply kits consisting of hygiene products that help prevent infection, products to boost immunity, and convenience foods to vulnerable groups and medical staff in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions through the social welfare corporation Children and Future Foundation. These support items were prepared as the first disbursement from the fund previously raised by the Benz Contribution Committee to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

View original imageThe Benz Contribution Committee plans to deliver a total of 2,600 home kits consisting of hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, vitamin products, and food supplies to 111 local children's centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk by the 16th. In addition, to help local farms struggling due to COVID-19, processed agricultural products made from local specialties from Gimcheon and Andong cities in Gyeongsangbuk-do were purchased and included in the home kits.
Furthermore, to support medical staff and volunteers fighting on the front lines against COVID-19, 1,500 medical staff kits consisting of medical gowns and caps, fatigue recovery supplements, and vitamin products were prepared and delivered on the 10th to Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital, Daegu Medical Center, and Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital.
Dimitris Silakis, Chairman of the Benz Contribution Committee, said, "We decided to provide relief supplies to vulnerable children and adolescents in the local community who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives due to the spread of COVID-19, as well as to the dedicated medical staff, to offer even a small help." He added, "We will continue to provide ongoing support to revitalize the local community, which has been depressed due to the impact of COVID-19, and to overcome these difficult times together."

Meanwhile, earlier, the Benz Contribution Committee invested 1 billion KRW as part of efforts to overcome COVID-19 for domestic disaster crisis families, vulnerable children, adolescents, the elderly, frontline medical staff, and volunteers. From March to May, it plans to accumulate a certain amount per vehicle sold and launch a project to make additional donations once the accumulated amount exceeds 1 billion KRW.
