China Reports 108 New COVID-19 Cases and 61 Asymptomatic Infections Added
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Seon-mi] In China, 108 new COVID-19 cases and 2 deaths were reported in one day on the 12th.
On the 13th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, there were 108 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. Among them, 98 were imported cases infected overseas and entered China. Ten cases were locally transmitted within China, with 7 new patients in Heilongjiang Province and 3 in Guangdong Province. The number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 2 in Hubei Province during the day.
So far, a total of 82,160 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in China. Among them, 3,341 have died and 77,663 have recovered and been discharged. Currently, 1,156 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, and there are 72 suspected cases. The number of close contacts under medical observation is reported to be 9,655.
There were 61 new asymptomatic infections reported in one day, which are not included in the confirmed case statistics. Among these, 12 were imported cases infected overseas. Including these, the total number of asymptomatic infections currently under medical observation is 1,064.

Meanwhile, outside mainland China in the Greater China region, a cumulative total of 1,437 COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported: 1,004 in Hong Kong, 45 in Macau, and 388 in Taiwan.
