Sejong City 'Yeominjeon' Sales Exceed 11.7 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 12th that as of the 9th, the sales amount of the local currency 'Yeominjeon' has exceeded 11.7 billion KRW.
The Yeominjeon sales amount is the total of 10.8 billion KRW purchased by 41,310 citizens and 900 million KRW purchased by local institutions.
Earlier, from the 9th to the 10th, the city held an event to promote Yeominjeon and issue cards at the Sejong National Research Institute Complex. The purpose was to enhance the atmosphere of revitalizing the local economy through Yeominjeon sales.
The event, jointly hosted by the city, the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Hana Bank, was conducted with mask-wearing and hand sanitizer provided to prevent COVID-19, targeting over 3,500 employees from 15 national research institutes for promotional activities.
In particular, the city and Hana Bank distributed promotional materials for Yeominjeon subscription and assisted with signing up for the Yeominjeon app and issuing Yeominjeon cards on-site.
Additionally, the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences encouraged employees working in the National Research Complex to subscribe to Yeominjeon and recommended that affiliated national research institutes actively use Yeominjeon for employee welfare points, various events, and awards.

Kim Hoe-san, head of the city's Corporate Support Division, said, “The high sales performance of Yeominjeon is the result of citizens responding to the purpose of revitalizing the local economy, which had been stagnant due to consumption within the region.” He added, “The city will continue to increase the issuance of Yeominjeon for institutional sales in consultation with public institutions and companies.”
