Early Voting for General Election Surpasses 10 Million... 4 PM Turnout at 23.46% (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] On the last day of early voting for the 21st general election, the cumulative turnout rate reached 23.46% as of 4 p.m. on the 11th.
According to the National Election Commission, out of a total of 43,994,247 registered voters, 10,320,928 have participated in early voting since it began at 6 a.m. the previous day, surpassing 10 million voters who have completed early voting.
By region, among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Jeonnam recorded the highest turnout rate at 32.61%. Jeonbuk had 31.4%, Gwangju 28.75%, Sejong 28.04%, Gangwon 25.87%, Gyeongbuk 25.82%, Gyeongnam 24.39%, Chungbuk 23.77%, Seoul 23.6%, and Daejeon 23.56%.
Following were Chungnam 22.54%, Ulsan 22.54%, Busan 22.33%, Jeju 22.28%, Incheon 21.54%, and Gyeonggi 20.75%. The region with the lowest turnout was Daegu, recording 20.53%.
At 4 p.m. on the last day of early voting during the 20th general election in 2016, the turnout rate was 10.62%. During the 2017 presidential election and the 2018 local elections, the rates were 22.77% and 17.48%, respectively.

Meanwhile, early voting can be done at 3,508 polling stations nationwide until 6 p.m. on the day, with an ID card, without a separate absentee report. The locations of early voting stations can be checked on the National Election Commission’s website.
