Incheon City Launches Comprehensive Maintenance Plan Project for 'City Monument No. 1' Munhaksan Fortress
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 10th that it has launched a 'Comprehensive Maintenance Plan Establishment Project' to systematically preserve and manage Munhak Fortress, the city's Monument No. 1 (designated in December 1986).
Through a 10-month project, the city will conduct a detailed status survey and safety diagnosis of the fortress walls and internal facilities of Munhak Fortress, and also hold an academic conference (seminar). Based on this, the city plans to establish a comprehensive maintenance and utilization plan for Munhak Fortress by year and section.
Munhak Fortress, a symbol of Incheon's history, has so far only undergone partial surface and trial excavations and repair works without a comprehensive maintenance plan.
Since the opening of the summit of Munhak Mountain in 2015 increased public interest, the city has been promoting the establishment of a comprehensive maintenance plan through a cultural heritage specialized investigation agency.
