View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 10th that it has been conducting intensive disinfection and professional cleaning of air conditioners on all city buses since the end of March to alleviate the anxiety of citizens who are concerned about the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) ahead of air conditioner operation in the summer season.
Although maintenance and cleaning have been carried out before operating air conditioners in preparation for summer in the past, Seoul City explained that this year they are responding proactively by further strengthening disinfection and cleaning.
In particular, air conditioner cleaning is systematically conducted by a professional company selected through a bid by the Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Association. During air conditioner cleaning and disinfection, internal parts such as filters and blower fans inside the vehicle are disassembled and thoroughly cleaned, and eco-friendly chemicals are used to ensure safety, making every effort to sterilize and disinfect.
As prevention of viruses such as COVID-19 as well as respiratory and immune-related diseases has become important, efforts are also made to prevent air conditioning-related illnesses such as cold syndrome, asthma, and allergies.
