KAIST Appoints Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Woo-sik as New Chairman
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] KAIST announced on the 6th that at the recently held '266th Regular Board of Directors Meeting,' Kim Woo-sik (80·photo), former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technology, was appointed as the new chairman of the board.
The term of the new Chairman Kim began on the 2nd of this month, approved by the Minister of Science and ICT, and will last for three years.
Chairman Kim served as a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yonsei University starting in 1968 and was president of Yonsei University for four years beginning in 2000. He later contributed to the development of national science and technology as the 27th Chief of the Presidential Secretariat and Deputy Prime Minister as well as the 25th Minister of Science and Technology.
