One Confirmed Case Among 20 Symptomatic Returnees from Italy's Second Repatriation (Update)
Overseas Koreans and expatriates from the Milan area in Italy are returning to Korea on the 1st via a charter flight, arriving through Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport. Immediately after arrival, they all move to a designated facility to undergo COVID-19 testing. View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Among 205 Korean residents returning from Italy on the second repatriation flight, one person tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This result came from diagnostic tests conducted on 20 symptomatic individuals.
Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters' quarantine team, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong on the 3rd, "The 20 symptomatic individuals underwent COVID-19 diagnostic tests at the open-type screening clinic for symptomatic persons inside Incheon Airport, and one of them was confirmed positive and transferred to a medical institution."
The 205 Korean residents who boarded the second temporary flight from Rome and Milan, Italy, arrived at Incheon Airport at 4:30 PM the previous day.
The remaining 185 residents were transported by chartered bus to the temporary living facility for overseas nationals, Cheonan Woongjeong Public Officials Training Institute, and diagnostic tests have been underway since the morning. If confirmed positive in the future, they will be transferred to medical institutions or residential treatment centers depending on the severity.

Previously, among the 309 Korean residents who arrived on the first temporary flight from Milan, Italy, on the 1st, 11 were symptomatic, and one of them tested positive. Lee Chang-jun, head of the residential treatment center team at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, said, "(Among the residents returning on the first chartered flight) 298 asymptomatic individuals were tested from morning to afternoon the previous day, and the test results have not yet been released," adding, "The results are expected to be available around lunchtime today."
