According to the legal community on the 3rd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Task Force (led by Chief Prosecutor Yoo Hyun-jung) decided to extend Cho's detention period by ten more days for further investigation following the court's issuance of an additional detention warrant for Cho the previous day. Under the Criminal Procedure Act, the detention period for a suspect is ten days, but if extended once, the suspect can be detained for up to 20 days. Originally, Cho's first detention period was set to expire on this day.
Cho, who was transferred to the prosecution on the 25th, will undergo additional investigation by the prosecution for up to ten more days. The prosecution plans to indict Cho before the expiration of the second detention period on the 13th. First, they will organize the 12 charges, including production and distribution of obscene materials under the Youth Protection Act, transferred by the police and bring Cho to trial, and will file additional charges as more investigation details from the police come in.

Except for the day of transfer and the weekend, Cho has been summoned daily for investigation by the prosecution. There was no summons investigation last weekend due to legal review. If necessary, the prosecution plans to conduct confrontation investigations with other accomplices. During the remaining detention period, the prosecution is expected to focus on supplementary investigations regarding Cho's charges and understanding the conspiracy relationships with accomplices.
The prosecution is conducting the seventh interrogation of Cho today as a suspect. Cho was summoned from 10 a.m. and is being investigated in a video-recorded interrogation room. The investigation is proceeding with the presence of Cho's lawyer. Cho's lawyer was absent from the previous day's investigation due to personal reasons.
Meanwhile, Choi Mo (26), an accomplice accused of illegally accessing personal information while serving as a social service agent (public service worker) and leaking it to Cho, is undergoing a detention hearing before Judge Won Jeong-sook, who is in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court this morning. The decision on Choi's detention is expected to be made late this afternoon. The prosecution also plans to summon and investigate Choi today.
