OK Baejeong Scholarship Foundation 18th Anniversary... "16 Billion KRW Support for 6,500 Students"
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] The OK Baejeong Scholarship Foundation, established by OK Savings Bank and OK Capital, among others, celebrates its 18th anniversary on the 4th.
The foundation announced on the 3rd a summary of its scholarship achievements, having awarded a total of 16 billion KRW in scholarships to 6,500 cumulative scholarship recipients.
Founded in 2002 with the vision of forming a next-generation network of 7.4 million overseas Koreans worldwide and nurturing the best global leaders of the Korean people, the foundation’s name was derived by taking one character from the names of Chairman Choi Yoon’s parents, who taught, “Do not neglect learning, cherish the value of people and learning if you succeed, and strive to help those in need.”
As of December last year, the foundation has provided 16 billion KRW in scholarships to 6,500 students from over 10 countries. The foundation operates various scholarship programs including the OK Living Scholarship for domestic university (graduate) students, the OK Hope Scholarship for middle and high school students, the OK Global Scholarship for overseas students, and the OK Sports Scholarship for aspiring athletes in Korea.
Recently, the foundation distributed about 50 masks per person to 180 currently selected Living Scholarship recipients. This initiative was prepared to support the hygiene management of scholarship students amid the worsening COVID-19 situation.
Going forward, the foundation plans to continue nurturing global leaders of the Korean people by fostering talent domestically and internationally across various fields.
