Sejong Strengthens Location for 'Smart City Solution' Demonstration Testbed
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 3rd that it has expanded its position as a testbed for demonstrating smart city solutions by joining the International Smart City Alliance (UTA) as a full member.
The International Smart City Alliance is a non-profit organization established in December last year in Geneva with the purpose of developing sustainable smart city models and creating an industrial ecosystem based on cooperation among cities worldwide and industry-academia-research sectors.
The organization includes members such as the city of Grenoble in France, the Electronics and Information Technology Research Institute (CEA), Keio University in Japan, Taipei City in Taiwan, and the UK company Paremus. In Korea, KAIST participates as a founding member.
The city received a membership proposal from Professor Kim Dae-young of the Department of Computer Science at KAIST, a board member of the International Smart City Alliance, and submitted a participation agreement to the International Smart City Alliance Secretariat on the 30th of last month, completing its full membership registration.
On this occasion, the city plans to provide an environment to demonstrate members’ advanced smart technologies as a testbed of the International Smart City Alliance and to enable related technologies to be utilized in solving urban problems.
Additionally, officials from the International Smart City Alliance will be invited to the ‘Sejong Smart City International Forum’ scheduled for the first half of next year to facilitate the sharing of smart city-related technologies and know-how.
