Gwangjin-gu, Free Collection of Food Waste from Small Restaurants
Free Food Waste Collection for Small Restaurants Under 200㎡... Support Provided for 6 Months from April 1 to September 30
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is promoting free food waste collection to support small restaurants affected by COVID-19.
The support targets about 4,000 small restaurants under 200㎡ in the area, and the period is six months from April 1 to September 30.
Small restaurants can dispose of food waste without attaching a business payment certificate when disposing of food waste, and the fees will be borne by the district.
A merchant operating a restaurant in Gwangjin-gu said, “Sales have sharply declined, making it difficult, but we appreciate the efforts to empathize with our difficulties and provide support,” and added, “The merchants' association will also thoroughly prepare to prevent infections by strictly following quarantine, hygiene management, and prevention rules.”
Kim Seon-gap, mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We are establishing a meticulous quarantine system to prevent COVID-19 and making every effort so that residents can use restaurants with peace of mind,” and added, “I believe that if we work together, we can wisely overcome this crisis.”
Earlier, as a proactive measure to revitalize the local economy, Gwangjin-gu is promoting ▲356 billion KRW in operating funds for small and medium enterprises and small business owners ▲early execution of 147.1 billion KRW in local finances in the first half ▲temporary suspension of all staff cafeterias in the district and dong offices ▲priority selection of local companies in private contracts ▲tax audits and collection deferrals for local taxes ▲up to one-year deferral of local non-tax revenue delinquency disposition and payment postponement/installment payment.
