The Anti-Corruption and Public Interest Commission Awards 340 Million KRW to 24 Whistleblowers

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 1st that it has paid a total of 343.59 million KRW in rewards to 24 individuals who reported corruption and public interest violations.
The Commission held a plenary meeting on the 23rd of last month to make this decision. According to the Commission, the amount recovered by public institutions as a result of these reports is approximately 9.05 billion KRW.
Among the corruption reports, a reward of 97.98 million KRW was given to a whistleblower who reported a nursing home that fraudulently registered part-time caregivers as full-time workers or falsely claimed that caregivers who did not work were on duty, thereby embezzling long-term care benefit costs.
Additionally, a reward of 15.95 million KRW was paid to a whistleblower who reported a local government official who improperly received travel expenses, and 15.46 million KRW was given to a whistleblower who reported a company that diverted research and development funds to a relative’s company while carrying out a government-supported R&D project.
Among public interest reports, a reward of 161.31 million KRW was paid to a whistleblower who reported price-fixing activities, and 10 million KRW was given to a whistleblower who reported a case of falsely labeling the place of product manufacture.
